Nothing ever comes instantly, every one's gotta wait But the question is will you eat when the food comes hot on your plate? You can read the writing on the wall or you can think they're just words Don't turn your back on yourself If you've got something to say You can take our advice Or go the long way We don't claim to know everything, in fact we know almost nothing Too young to be considered wise, too old to still be naïve You can read the writing on the wall, or you can think they're just words Don't turn your back on yourself If you've got something to say You can take our advice, yeah Or go the long way Life is just trial and error You can go your whole life guessing but get no results You can answer the knocks on the door, or you can choose to ignore

Seventeen and tender, thinkin what am I gunna do? My mother sat me down and told me boy it's up to you Go do what you like, you won't be happy otherwise I knew it when she told me I could see it in her eyes Could blame the world, blame anybody, for when I stumble or fall If im not making my own mistakes it aint no life of mine I wanna know what makes a man Is it the clothes on his back? Or the calluses on his hands? Some of my friends tell me, "Youre stuck on a straight away road" Just take the next exit man! Well I pray for the day I told you so Well I told you soooooooo Could blame the world, blame anybody, for when I stumble or fall If im not making my own mistakes it aint no life of mine I wanna know what makes a man Is it the clothes on his back? Or the calluses on his hands?

starts getting comfortable again when I stay long enough coming back is always easy 'cause it never asks for much and it screams for the bottle cries out in its sleep try to nurture and hide a beast inside until I... break and release I'm a sitting stone never was much for rolling, been gathering moss for myself know who I am and who I try to be but can I be somebody else Gotta make a move while my mind's still a sponge cuz the body's been hung out to dry pick up the pace and find something new to fuel the spark that's in my eye
4.
when I start to lose my head a steady hand will take its turn to ease my mind as we take a step back just to let it burn we try to leave the bags behind but they're always catching up we feel the weight of each new year but here's to us all for another one down this one's for all of you here because you're all so good so don't you dare die young there's life in our years and so much to come. they say we are an army but this army not destruct we just watch each other's backs for when shit runs amuck remember all the words we shared from late night to early morning we'll come and we will go, we need no warning because you're all so good so don't you dare die young with life in our years and so much to come. Here's to all the rascal kings the anchor ends of all these things to you i say "my kingdom for a beer" ill toast to you time and again you heroes or just hooligans, well that part's never clear

Sympathy is friendships whore the best of mine gave nothing more may this love transcend more than a nation, more than citizen what illusions can you offer me today? Substantial lives measure the moments will you hold open the door? greet them with a smile and open arms or just extend a hand to shake politely or shield from harm just a start though it echoes, echoes far can you feel protected from the enemies that you invent? Place a sense of confidence in weapons and walls the best defence is proof enough of fear shot dead at the site only 17 years a victim of circumstance a life that met it's end will you shoot on sight? Greet them with a scope and tear gas or just extend a hand to bludgeon swiftly to cause them harm just taken to extremes, and once it's done there ain't no turning back earn the value, sleep off the shame embody your convictions trade in real emotion for bitter-sweet inhibition but the heart won't subside nor disregard your disregard denial is twice as hard
6.
Out in the backstreets all crossing different ways been looking for that new thing got me runnin' for days your smile is a late-devil, wholesome surprise in tears beggars caress holding close what they despise it's the contents of duress the contents of duress! Baby I ain't no animal, Im just a regular man I'm always ready to pick a fight, you know I do what I can Is justice out on the town while Lady Liberty sleeps? The only ones left around, the ones who got in too deep Colder in the night with a pendulum, never time to bide better stayed their hearts unsung, the cost would overcome the prize Danger dreams on the tv screens seem oh, so demure like truth in fiction, it's telling our condition that feeds but is never sure
